I know I will probably catch som flack but the barnett quad 400 I got from dunhams brand new for around 300-350 otd is hard to beat. with a 30 percent coupon you save over 100 bucks off the 400+ price tag. it is heavy but it shoots great.

Buy once, cry once.

Excalibur is second to none. While a recurve bow has a larger footprint than a compound, the serviceability and simplicity on these things is amazing. Nothing like being able to change your brace height or swap strings in a couple minutes. Dead nuts accurate, bomb-proof, etc. etc.

One of the biggest perks, IMO, is the warranty that comes with the bows. Danny Miller at Horizontal Archery (one of the service reps for Excalibur) is truly a great guy and a huge value to the company. A+ service in my few experiences with him, and you will hear the same from everybody else who has dealt with him.

Head on over to the Excalibur forums and poke around. Usually have some good deals on bows on their site... if not, call Danny and he'll be able to hook you up.

I'll jump on the excalibur pile. I bought an Axiom at Dunhams using the 30% off coupon. It was a steal.

No dog in this fight, but someone on MGO has an Excalibur 355 Matrix for sale. See link below. I have the 380 matrix (a little faster) paid about $ 1,200 for it new and some bolts last year. But I took a real nice 8 pointer with it last year, after about going 20 years without anything. You can still miss with a crossbow, be sure to get a good range finder. Have fun and good luck.

+1 for the Barnett Quad. It has killed everything I've pulled the trigger on...yeah a little heavy but fairly solid.

I have a Horton Reverse limb Vision 175. They are super narrow (9 3/4 inch cocked), quiet and accurate. All the weight is in the rear, which makes holding it steady super easy. And their customer service is top notch.

take a 30% coupon to dunhams and pick up a Tenpoint Titan Extreme with crank and quiver for $560.00 plus tax....best bang for the buck in my opinion.

illuminated scope, great crank and 315-330fps and can shoot the wings off a fly at 20,30 and 40 yds.

There are 4 Excalibur's in our hunting group. Zero others.

There used to be other brands, but we have all upgraded. The Excalibur is simple, fast and accurate. The first time you have a problem with a cam or pulley, you'll wish you had an Excalibur.

There are other great bows, but I don't see the advantages in others that the Excalibur offers.

Excalibur Matrix 380,
Boo Custom String,
Limb saver nodes,
22" carbon express bolts,
unable to shoot the same spot twice without destroying a bolt.

Oh yeah and an Excalibur aluminum Axiom.

Excal is a DIY crossbow, blow a string or cable on a compound and your bow is now being sent out for a rebuild.
