I am trying to locate a location that is firearm friendly. Being from the area do you have any suggestions?

I'd be in for the one at the old state park in Bay City if it was warm out. If its cold out, I'll be in the woods.

Not really sure. You may want to contact Duncan's and see if they have any recommendations. I see Jackam has responded also. I know that MGO has had activities at Duncan's before. Being in October, is this wanting to be indoors or outdoors? Also, how many are expected to show? Does this need to have unlimited capacity? I know the Doubletree is where the friend of NRA has had their dinners. Right downtown. If there are not a ton of peeps Duncans can host 50 to a 100 peeps and then the range is there as well :)

Putting the picnic in the D on my calendar.

Why was the heart of Detroit chosen as a meet up place?

Here's a map and aerial view of the park (https://maps.google.com/maps?q=william+g.+milliken+state+park+and+harbor&ll=42.33244,-83.027608&spn=0.008629,0.013797&fb=1&gl=us&hq=william+milliken+state+park+and+harbor&cid=11967808734462495823&t=h&z=16)

Bring sun screen! The property looks pretty barren.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing. I got on Google to take a look at the area.

Someone should add this as an event on MGO's facebook page.

Looks like a good one to attend. That is certainly a "gun friendly" area.

Putting the picnic in the D on my calendar.

Why was the heart of Detroit chosen as a meet up place?

The Metro area picnics last year were in northwest Oakland County and the border of western Wayne and Washtenaw counties -far from the center of Detroit. Detroit has seen a quickly increasing number of gun owners over the past several years as police services have decreased and it's our wish to provide a picnic for those gun owners in a location close to them and near other attractions downtown. Young Guns of Michigan will be coordinating a youth event to happen in the city the morning before the picnic that our organizations will likely be helping them with. I'll leave the details for them to announce when they're ready.

ThanksI volunteered to help here, got the go ahead, met with a local sponsor, found a venue and now I find that there's more than one person doing the same thing.

Nice work. Wasted my time. Hell, I even got 2 parks to change their "No Guns" policy.

Doesn't sound like a waste of time to me. It sounds more like you introduced some folks to Act 319 of 1990. Good on ya.
