Where do you get the tags for hunting kids in the "Sept Kid Hunt"? Instead of corn, try using Freeze Pops...

Besides the new rule about NO bait.

It is illegal to bait for deer before October 1st

I would figure, seeing that this is to help bring a child into the tradition of hunting, you would offer this for free.

Little *******s want to help me, cut wood, paint my tower blind, help drill a well they can hunt for free. I let some relatives hunt there last couple of years. They were supposed to help do some work/gimme some dough never did.
However, If you do use my land I will come and use my new blood tracking dog to find your deer.

Look were the CRD was. Some game ranch!!! MSP should fly over in there helichopper and kill alll the deer in the fence. Then, make it into sauage and give to folks in Ohio. Then, we'll know if its safe to eat the meat. If not, oh well.

Great....after you post on line that you are committing a game law violation by illegal baiting....you want to have folks pay you to subject themselves to arrest as well? My word....

He was baiting BEFORE the ban. Beside he was baiting for rabbits. I'm sure he has stopped now that it's illegal.

I quit throwing out corn after the ban. It's not illegal to throw out corn so I can watcht he deer go romp around the woods. Do I need to go and rake up all the acorns that fell off the trees???

I believe that you are mistaken about throwing out corn for the deer. I believe that it is illegal to do just that.

But, you don't need to worry about the acorns unless you are raking them up and taking them out for the deer.

not sure if its illegal to feed the deer

no one has tested it yet in MI

for all we know it may be illegal to feed wild deer

but hunting them is a NO NO and the DNR has more power and liberties then many/any other agency

only saving grace is there are not close enough officers to partol

but an open message board may not have been best idea

just my $0.025 (inflation)

As I understand it...both baiting and feeding have distinct definitions and...both are prohibited until further notice.

And, as broke as the State is....I heard second hand that at least in central Michigan....a helicopter has been up looking for bait piles. Maybe fiction, maybe fact but, who can afford to find out?

I have 20 acres in gladwin and my father-in-law has 250 acres in roscommon county and I have seen 8 helicopter's the last 4 weekends flying low and checking round the feeders and areas looking for feeders and deer in one area feeding. now we have stopped all feeding and the helicopter's are still there looking. We had a animal feeder 25 feet from the in laws cabin for the wild life not deer alone. I even put a sign on the feeder says"NO DEER FEEDING" and the deer still keep looking for the bird feed....:naughty:

Shooter,

I'm glad you posted this. I wondered how your garden was doing. I remember you saying you were trying to grow corn, but having no luck. Well there is always next year.
