I have GOT to get me a set of those flip ups for my SPARC 1.

FIY---the Sparc 2 covers will not fit on the SPARC 1. I ordered the Butler Creek #04 from E-bay.
I hate the bikini cover, think I'll like the flip ups a lot more.

Got the # 04's. Wrong size. Had to send them back.
They take the 1" size.

is the mounting base still the same from the 1 to the 2?

I was hoping they did away with the buttons and went with a turn dial like the aimpionts. I am not a fan of the buttons.

That's not what the article says:

A welcomed new feature are the lens caps that ship with the SPARC II. These are very Buttlercreek’ish in style but are branded instead with the Vortex logo. They snap closed and with the flick of a finger spring open allowing the sight to be used. These are also compatible with the generation 1 sight in case you were wondering.

From the article:

they are compatible with most Aimpoint T-1 micro mounts makes it a top choice for me

They did make some changes you might you like better:

The new button tower is a little more narrow and has been reduced from three buttons on the generation 1 unit to two buttons on the generation 2 sight. To turn the sight on, you simply depress the top “up” button. While on, pushing either the upper or lower button will adjust the brightness accordingly. If you’re wondering which button went missing from the original sight, it’s the night vision button. On the SPARC II you can find your night vision settings at the two bottom most brightness settings using the “down” button vs. the dedicated button of its predecessor. To turn the sight off, simply hold the top “up” button for 5 seconds and it powers down.

I e-mailed Vortex, I did not keep the reply, but the rep said that they would NOT fit without some modification, due to the switch location. Said the SPARC 2 was too new to divert any of the covers from production. That's when she recommmended the Butler Creek ones. Unfortunately she told me the wrong size, & I had to exchange the one's I bought. Haven't received the #1's yet.

No,I found that out when they shipped a Gen II hi mount with my Gen I SPARC, it didn't fit. The locking bolt and nut are smaller on the Gen II also.

Well that is strange. I just looked at the diameter of the #1's and they are 1" according to Midways site:
http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1168106582/butler-creek-flip-up-rifle-scope-cover-objective-front

Measured my optic Sparc and both front and rear measure 1.100" which would be closer to the #4 like they told you. Now I am confused...

I was told to order the #04, NOT #4. But when They came they were WAY TOO BIG.
Could have been in the wrong package?

The #1's fit tight, but they're on there & they work. SO...........

I was just going to post a new topic on this when I noticed this one.. I just ordered a new SPARC II from 3 Rivers Precision, they had 'em for $199 like everyone else but there was an additional 10% off coupon for a YouTube channel I subscribe to which took it down to $179, not a bad deal.. Everyone watches Sootch, right?

Anyway, looking forward to getting it. Has anyone else ordered one here? What's your impression of the quality, etc...?
