Rats! When I saw the title I hoped it might be something that would extend the preemption laws to cover MSU, Wayne State, and, uhh, wasn't there one other state school somewhere that had this too? I forget.

well there is one change that shows promise along those lines, but doesn't go far enough to be absolutely sure. They changed "city or township" to "local unit of government". Unfortunately without a clear definition of local unit of government stating otherwise, UofM, Wayne State, and Moo U are going to continue claiming to be exempt from preemption.

Yes it has. The link in the OP says that it has been submitted to the "Committee of the Whole", which means that it is back on the floor of the Senate.


As much as I want them to loosen up on pneumatic pistols/rifles/guns, this bill still has a glaring error in it. Modern day powders are not explosives, they are propellents. The only firearms that use "explosives" in this sense are muzzle loaders. I expect that this bill will have some unexpected consequences if passed as is.
