At this time I am not a paying MGO member but I can certainly see if I can provide some support for Saturday and Sunday, September 27 & 28. Just let me know the logistical specifics, and an idea of how to dress appropriately, and if open carry is allowed.

Looking to help as I can. By the way, e-mail tends to work best for me.

Mr. Waverly

We can sure you the help on Saturday after the slot is open. Lucky for you if you work one shift you get a shift credit which you can trade in and become a paid member. dress is casual, prefer you wear a Mgo shirt (cost $10) which we will have at the show. Unfortunately there is a no gun policy at the gun show, ironic I know. If you are still interested send me a pm.

thanks

Coming from a past and future booth volunteer, I can say that these events are very enjoyable and informative from both sides of the table. Everything from helping people with simple questions about handgun registration or learning about MSP updates from Kilt Guy that I never heard of but make a big impact on when/where you can carry. This is our moment to introduce people to MGO and really let them know what were all about, or even get those folks back that snuck away the past few years (I heard I used to be a member a lot from people walking up to the booth). Things are constantly changing as far as 2A rights go on a state (SBR rulings, acceptable hunting calibers, ect) and federal (import bans, registration, ect.) level. Education and information is what were all about, and when your face to face, as opposed to behind a keyboard, you really can make a difference, and that's why we put the effort into attending these shows.

At least try out one shift. Let us know what was good/bad about the experience. Chances are you will be working next to one of our new BOD members. Its a great opportunity to learn who they are and share ideas or even tell/hear a few good stories. Plenty of spots open!!!

I would really like to get to a point where only paying Members work the shows, I know that is not always possible but that is my Goal!!
I know we do get some people that sign up when they work the show and that is great as long as they follow through and do that!

Well, I didn't realize we wanted to stick to paying members. I was using it as an opportunity to get guys who are not really involved to get involved.

I told Jake and Brian that when you get a shift credit you can use it toward a year membership or a ticket in the GOY drawing if you're already a paid member.
I believe Jake and Brian both were planning on using the shift credit to get a year membership.

If that's wrong of me to encourage guys this way, I'll stop. Oops.

Jake was asking me when the next new shooter clinic was too so that he could RSO.

dmd7765
11-11-2014, 10:21 AM
Its not wrong, but for clarification, if they use the shift credit for membership, they dont get a GOY ticket for that shift. Confirm with them if they want to use the credit for membership. If yes I will have to revise the shift credits I sent to SeeTee

No, I'm not saying that it is wrong to do that, I think working the shows is a great way to enlist New Members, just keep in mind that in order to get in the GOY raffle I believe you need to be a paying Member, If I am wrong, I will stand corrected.

It is just a Goal of mine to have the Members work the shows.

Right. I explain it like that if you work, you get a free year membership. If you're already a member, you can either get another year free or a ticket for a gun.

Hi Guy's

Just for a review, on the shift credits.

- 1st. time non- MGO member volunteer, 1st. shift credit earns MGO membership-no " options " *, no GOY entry.

-any additional shift credits they earn for the year after that go into the GOY drawing.

-Pre existing MGO members- at the time of earning shift credits have "options*"

-*options- any combination of the following, 1 shift credit deducted from the member's total for each option exercised, can only use each option once per year.

-Extend membership for 1 yr, tacks on to the ending date of current membership

-Gift a membership

All other shift credits for the volunteer go into the drawing.

A few notes.

As long as they are a current MGO member, all members with an eligible shift credit are entered into the GOY drawing, regardless if earned or paid membership.

Shift credit "season" runs Dec.1st of the current year to Dec.1st of the following year.

All volunteers will be contacted with their totals for verification and asked how they want to use options if they have any.

I hope for notices to start going out to the volunteers by next Monday, maybe sooner.
I will sticky a post in this sub-forum a heads up when the notices first go out for volunteers to look for them, I will update the post when all notices have gone out asking for anyone that has worked an event and have not been contacted to pm me and we will sort it out.

Un-official shift tally / stats.for this season so far,

3 volunteers earned a MGO membership

36 volunteers this season over all.

137 shift credits earned.

Highest number shift credits earned by a volunteer this season, 19-no it was not me.

Trivia-Highest shift credit earner ever since the drawing program started AFAIK- Mopedman with 29! Thanks for all the past hard work Sam!

Please if you have any questions contact me, if it is about shift credit totals please wait until after I contact you.

A great big Thank You to all the volunteers who stepped up to help MGO this year!

I just thought I would make sure we are all on the same page, the rules will be re posted in the new thread when I let everybody know the notices are going out.

One more trivia note, Sam with 29 entry's that year did not win the GOY, it was won by a volunteer with only one entry! it is the luck of the draw!
