This is the most practical tactical course you will ever take. Learn to truly protect your circle. This skill set revolves around the skills of evasion and tactical observation or reconnaissance. This curriculum is inspired by the traditions and warfare of the American southwest (Apache, Navajo and Ancient Pueblo). Learn how to turn being the hunted into an advantage. This course is unique in the way that it jumps back and forth from life or death seriousness to learning skills that are just plain fun.

The curriculum will include:

High Speed Survival review
Evasion and tactical mechanical avoidance
Scout Psychology
General evasive strategy
How to anticipate contact points
Individual Movement Techniques
Team Movement Techniques
Utilizing Terrain Features, chokes and funnels
Camouflage
Counter and Anti-Tracking
Avoiding contact from an ethno-historical perspective
Tactical Observation
Breaking Contact


CLASS REQUIREMENTS

This class is 16 hours long over 2 days.
This class instructs wilderness survival topics.
Class format is classroom/lecture on day 1 and an in-field practical on day 2. It is mildly physically demanding.
Trainees should bring note taking supplies.
There will be a short breaks throughout the classroom day.
Trainees should have water and light snacks necessary for 8 hours of instruction each day.
On Day 1 (classroom) there are restaurants in the area. On Day 2, trainees should bring their own lunches.
There will be time after the class for questions.


WHEN:

Saturday 13DEC2014 and Sunday 14DEC2014, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM


WHERE:

Day 1: 6360 Jackson Rd, Suite H, Ann Arbor MI. This is a small classroom venue in an office complex west of Zeeb Rd. on Jackson Rd.
Day 2: TBD (Ann Arbor area)


WHO:

Anyone interested in wilderness survival. Age 14+


FEE:

$200.00 per person.

INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF:
Matt Smith: Survival Instructor

Expertise in primitive and non-primitive survival, tracking, wilderness evasion, emergency preparedness, survival psychology and primitive big game hunting.
Over 1,200 days in the back-country of the continental divide, from the Canadian to the Mexican border, in various stages of survival.
4 Years as a wilderness therapy instructor in the high desert of Utah.
Matt’s tracking ability has been critical in the recovery of several “absconding” at risk youth. This includes closing a 17 mile/72 hour time/distance gap in half a day.
Involved in the Mexican Wolf re-introduction into the White Mountain Apache Reservation of Arizona.
onPoint Tactical: Wilderness evasion, primitive big game hunting instructor.
Implemented wilderness survival programing and instructed for the University of Utah.
White Pine Wilderness Academy Instructor.
