Hi everyone,

Got a new Bushmaster AR-15 not long ago. Looking to purchase the optics for it in the near future and wanted to get some opinions and thoughts, as there are so many to choose from. Not sure whether I should go for a scope or an EOTech. I would really like some general thoughts on the topic before I go and purchase something.

Thanks

I really like my eotechs. Field of view is great and I dont have to be delicate with them like I do with my ~$40 red dot sights. But my eyes suck and I don't do any long range shooting...

It depends how you plan on using it and what distance. Most any hi power riflescope can be mounted on a AR Rail

I think it depends on the type of AR you have and intended use. I have a shorty(16") lightweight AR with a compact 2-7 on it, then I have a medium/heavyweight AR with a 5.5-16 or so power scope. The heavier AR is more for prairie dogging or the range.

I like to match optics to the gun and intended use.

I have a Millett DMS Scope 1-4x on one AR http://www.millettsights.com/scopes/dms/ and an Eotech 512 on another. I like both.

I guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. My ARs are for personal defense and plinking and I don't plan to shoot beyond 100 yards any time soon. Pop can or minute of bad guy will suffice with either, as well as with the open sights on my A2.

I purchased an aimpoint pro about 6 months ago but found I prefer my iron sites for cqb training. If your interested pm me.

I dont know your budget but I have found the 1-4 or 1-6 magnification scopes to be excellent. My favorite is the SWFA 1-6. A bit pricey but an excellent piece of glass that can cover a lot of different situations.
