Take a look at these. Who else makes one? Any companies I'm missing?

Also, if anyone ehre has one of these, please comment on quailty. How do you like it?

I've been looking at the Sentry Home Defense Center for a while. I like the whole idea. It's not a safe, just a heavy duty instant access cabinet, like a big pistol box. My grandkids are getting to the point that I feel the need to lock the bedroom guns up but still want instant access. The only thing I don't like about this is the price, it's dang near as expensive as a regular gun safe. Too much for a fancy sheet steel cabinet. It's not even biometric, just uses four buttons like the pistol safes.

Obviosly, it's not made to be a safe, just to keep kids and opportunistic bad guys from getting your HD weapons without giving up quick access.

I've also seen this one which is considerably less money. Watching the videos and looking at the pictures, the door doesn't open much beyond 90 degrees. Looks like getting your gun out in a hurry would be difficult. Also not all that pumped about Barska quality. The biometric feature is nice if it works.

Thoughts and comments welcome.

I've seen the top one you posted. I too feel it's just a lockable cabinet.

I think SentrySafe is trying to just make it look really, really cool.

Like something you could store in a corner of a closet. More a conversation piece. Have you looked into some if the safes that fit between the joists in the wall? They're about half the cost, and also have the hidden factor, and keypads.

For kids you have to have keypads, or combination locks. A key can and will be found.

Skip the obvious crap... If you're going to store your stuff in a non-fire rated box, you might as well do something to conceal it.
