This training continues where Personal Protection 1 leaves off. Maintaining focus on reality based training and the modern daily carry items, PP2 explores using these items in the cases of not having equal initiative. The percussion (striking) portion of the training will include drawing and deploying the weapon, pivots and turns to face an attacker, closing and making distance, as well as more emphasis on selective targeting and moving and attacking.

The grappling portion of the training moves beyond the escape and retreat focus of PP1 and addresses reversals and controls applied to an assailant. In real scenarios, escaping and retreating is not always an option. Examples are if you have children dependent on you for protection, and you cannot leave the area with the speed necessary to avoid further confrontation from the attacker.
