This classroom offering details the necessary steps to develop a personal and family emergency preparedness plan. Some of the preparedness/survival industry is fantasy based (like zombie apocalypse), with little basis in reality. This program will remove the fantasy by using a risk analysis approach to understanding the real threats Michigan families face, how to approach preparing for those threats, and how to maximize preparedness for multiple threat types.

This course focuses on having preparations for at least 3 days of in-home sheltering, preparing the home for typical Michigan threats, as well as for contingencies if the home becomes uninhabitable. Trainees will participate in one team exercise involving threat prioritization and explore contingency plans for that threat.

As a result of this class, trainees will be able to apply proper risk determination, and a logical approach to preparing the home and family for an emergency situation.
