Both groups are very honored and excited to have Donald R Burgett as our very special guest. Here is a little history for anyone not familiar with Mr. Burgett.

Donald R. Burgett (born April 5, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan) is a writer and a former World War II paratrooper. He was among the airborne troopers who landed in Normandy early on the morning of D-Day. He was a member of the101st Airborne Division, ("The Screaming Eagles"), and the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Burgett served in 'A' Company, 1st Battalion, 506th PIR as both a rifleman and a machine-gunner.

Mr. Burgett wrote 4 books on his memories. One was regarded as the best book about the Second War: “currahee” about Normandy which was written in 1962 and was published in 1967. This book was approved by General Eisenhower himself and was published in 14 countries and also French.

His other books are: “The Road to Arnhem” about Holland, “Seven roads to Hell” about Bastogne and “Beyond the Rhine” about Germany. MOC and MGO thanks those attending the Fowlerville luncheon for Donald Burgett and his family. It was indeed an honor for both MGO and MOC to present Donald with a framed tribute, from the state of Michigan, on behalf of MOC and MGO, for his sacrifice and service to our great nation. Also presented to Donald were memberships to both MGO and MOC. Elected officials attending were REP. DR. HANK VAUPLE (district 47) and REP. LANA THEIS (district 42). Also in attendance were Cindy Denby from Rep. Vauple's office and Scott Kempa from the office of Senator Joe Hune. It was, with great pleasure, that we the members and supporters of MOC and MGO, honor such a great representative of "the greatest generation...and to you, Donald, we again say thank you, sir. SALUTE !!

He was wearing his MGO hat proudly.
