View Full Version : Annual Fun Shoot at Firing Line

UTPD#5
12-02-2008, 06:53 AM
Fun shoot at the Firing Line is set for Dec. 26 at 6:30 PM

More details will follow, but, in years past people bring their toys and enjoy snacks with like minded people with MGO renting one of the ranges at the Firing Line.

Generally people will bring in desert type dishes to share and just visit with each other, PLUS shoot firearms that each other bring.

We hope to have another fun shoot near Flint at some point this winter as well, details will be posted when they are firmed up!

fbuckner
12-19-2008, 05:47 PM
MGO covers the range fee's for the couple of hours we are there. We all share lanes and let each other shoot our guns.

This is how it goes
We fill out the proper waivers
enjoy some deserts
have a range briefing
and go shoot and have fun

This sounds great!!! The 26th is going to be a Cabellas, Russel Stover day, but this is usually a morning, early afternoon thing. Will be back in plenty of time for snacks, friendship and down range time. I'm going to try to get my son in law and daughter to go also. Hope to meet a lot of great people.

Well, Friday is open for me, so I will be there. The wife is going to stop by for a visit on her way home from work too. She is hoping to see some other women there, and what they shoot. She has a .22 and want's to upgrade, but doesn't know what she wants.

Cheesecake and Cookies are spoken for... How about I bring brownies?

We have one high power lane, but no "all lead" bullets. I'll have my beowulf for anyone to try. Maybe a couple firearms I've bought and haven't had time to shoot.

If the weather doesn't completely suck, I may try to come up with my son. He's been itching to get some trigger time on his M9.

So I'm clear, AR's are okay to bring?

They're high power lane is for the big handguns...the .454's, 460's and .500's. I don't think they allow any rifle ammo of any kind on the range.

That's right buy I'm not sure if it is technically Westland or Wayne. Ford Road West to Hix Road (There is a McD's on the corner of course) Turn Left and Firing Line is down on the left. I'm in for cherry crisp or texas sheet cake...I'm not sure which but I will bring one or the other.

P.S.
I'll also have the wife, daughter and the boyfriend in tow.

It's Westland...
If you're going west on Ford Road, it'd be a RIGHT on Hix Rd (i.e., turn NORTH)...then down a block on the left side.

I'm in. I'll bring a few dozen homemade sugar cookies. I just made the dough tonight, and we'll be baking and decorating them on Christmas Eve. I'm new, so I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

Since we have the high-power lane, I'll bring my 500. I should have my Doubletap ammo too - 3000 ft-lbs!!! (http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_47&products_id=170) It's due to arrive tomorrow. :bfg2:

I'll bring the GP100, too, that apparently has made its way through the MGO community. I'll refrain from lowbrow analogies like sloppy seconds.

The ice should be melted by then if the forecast holds. Hope you can make it and belated congrats on the item I just found in the Hillsdale News online version:

"Brad Benzing
New office: District 4 Hillsdale County Commissioner
On the transition:
Benzing said he prepared for his new responsibilities by reading books about the structure and function of county government. New commissioner training in Lansing in the beginning of December re-emphasized what he learned and helped explain some of the larger issues he would face. For more of the story, copy and paste the following url into your browser:
http://hillsdaledailynews.mi.newsmemory.com/"

Sorry the congrats are so late...I am just starting to awaken from a deep slumber that came over me in early November...It may start again about mid-January! I know you will bring the same activity, intensity and integrity to County government as you bring to work on our gun rights.

Sorry to miss all the fun. The ice hung in there most of the day, there were over 200 calls to 911 for assistance.

Mark and Kay, thanks for the kind words and well wishes. I get sworn in on the 2nd. It will be a new experience sitting on the other side of the desk. I'll still be working to preserve and expand our gun rights. Off to Lansing for the day on the 21st.

Had a great time. Thanks again to everyone that helped put this together.

I was able to shoot a Kahr PM9 that I was thinking about getting, glad I shot it first, didn't like it. And a Colt Defender, which of course, I loved (who doesn't love a 1911?).

Great snacks too!
