I see where you noted it removes the places you cannot carry without a CPL...

What does it do for the places you cannot carry with a CPL?

Is the end state of this a situation where you can carry in PFZs without a CPL, but if you have a CPL, you're SOL?

This'll never happen, but one can dream! How amazing it would be.

It most certainly won't happen if nobody contacts their reps. If every single CPL holder contacted their rep, the message would be loud and clear.

Their inbox's and mailboxes should be full, and their phones should be ringing off the hook, daily!

Unfortunately, our complacency is our own worst enemy. Why would legislators work on bills with relatively low constituent support? If this legislation doesn't move, don't let it be because we were too lazy or discouraged.

We know where the roadblock is. We want to shove this in Snyders face and force him to show his hand (again). Lets at least get it that far.

Send a letter, Make those calls, At least send an email.

You're right. I will contact them. Someone should post the contact information in the original post for the relevant representatives and make it easy for everyone to call and write in.

I know I don't have that information on-hand, and having it here would make me far more likely to spur-of-the-moment call or write in.

ANYONE????

As far as I know that language does indeed still exist in there. It needs to be amended before it hits the committee, or CPL holders get hosed.

If you are referring to places like; Courts, Casinos, Post offices, and other Federal facilities. They are listed in other laws and are not affected by this legislation.

I'm looking back at what Zig posted http://www.migunowners.org/forum/showthread.php?333482-HB-4772-4778-CONSTITUTIONAL-CARRY-Eliminate-mandatory-pistol-registration

post 18

I have not heard anything about them fixing this yet.

You are correct about casinos, courts and fed facilities etc... I don't think they plan on removing them

I'm talking about all of the restricted places for carrying with a CPL. The bill only mentions removing the prohibition on general firearm possession in PFZ's, NOT the locations specified in the CPL law. In other words- sports arenas, establishments with more than 50% sales in alcohol, schools, dorms, classrooms, etc etc.

Without changing that, what you end up with is, if you don't have a CPL, you can carry anywhere that federal law doesn't prohibit you from carrying. WITH a CPL, you still cannot carry in PFZs. I'm not 100% sure on this, but it seems that would also remove the right to OC in those areas if you have a CPL.

Thats a pretty big problem for anyone who wants to ditch the PFZs... yet still carry in other states.

The Honorable (full name)
Michigan House of Representatives
Lansing, Michigan 30014

Dear Representative (last name):

The legislation HB4772-4778 addressing Constitutional Carry is of paramount interest to me as a lawful gun owner and a voting constituent in your district. This issue directly impacts my rights and the rights of lawful gun owners throughout Michigan.

I am primarily concerned about repealing certain requirements currently listed within the Michigan Compiled Laws because they are contrary to the Constitution of Michigan Article I § 6. Several other states such as Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, and Wyoming have taken bold steps in restoring their resident's individual rights. I would also like to propose an amendment to HB4772. Currently as written, HB4772 contains language that effectively keeps pistol free zones intact for those who have a concealed pistol license, while those without a CPL are not bound by these restrictions. I urge you to amend HB4772 and remove pistol free zones entirely.

I realize this may or may not fully represent your viewpoint. Therefore, I will look forward to your reply expressing your opinions, and your current stance on the issue.

Thank you for your consideration of my viewpoint on this matter. I believe it is an important issue, and would like to see HB4772-4778 amended to remove pistol free zones and passed to restore the rights for all Michigan residents.

Sincerely,

Your name,

Sitting in committee. Hopefully it will move when they get back from their much needed VACATION. Then again this may be DOA because of the Gamrat scandal.

I sent a note to ERICA GEISS, my rep. Her husband was/is pro 2A, ( Sort of ). Will see what kind of reply I get back from her.

My question is, why does it take the state so long to sign in a bill?
