View Full Version : Tactical Scope Disappointment

Hey all,
I just wanted to share something I found out about too late. I have a small (Not going to give the brand) tac. scope and because of the design - it now leans slightly off center in a clockwise direction.

The reason for this, is because there is only one point where pressure is applied and because eventually aluminum bends. The PIC provided is NOT the brand I have. Just an example of the style.

As you can see in the above pic the lever applies pressure in the center of the aluminum clamp. Which, eventually, caused it to bend and skew the optic.
I'm sure I can bend it back but that will only further weaken the aluminum.

IMO - a scope with two pressure points would have been better.

Thanks and feedback is welcome.

Mike

The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of a low price is long forgotten. The best bang for the buck IMVHO is Vortex. Their lifetime warranty is the icing on the cake.

Thanks for posting but how will it help if we don't know what brand?

Pic is NOT the brand he has, but it would be helpful to know.

So it sounds like this is more an issue of optics mount...

Either way, in the optics game, you get what you pay for. Unless its countersniper.

I bought a cheapy scope very similar to that. The mount was absolutely worthless. Fortunately there was just enough room for me to use a set of scope rings that I had laying around. The scope itself is actually pretty decent for the money and has functioned quite well for me.

Scrap the mount and slap on some rings. With a quick release mount you really need to spend the money to get a usable solution.

Hey flylo,

IMO any brand with this type of clamp will have the same results. In fact, I kind of hold the suspicion that they probably come from the same place or company with different branding.
