I'm looking for input from those who have been there done this, choosing an RMR. I'm leaning toward the Trijicon, battery powered, but I would like to hear your thoughts and experience. This will be going on a S&W M&P Performance Center 5" 9mm. Thanks.

I've been researching too. I know I don't want the fiber optic/tritium version as I have shot one on a friends CORE. I took it into a doorway of a dark room and as I closed the door it became increasingly dimmer without the fiber optic collecting light.

The adjustable brightness [RMO7 I think] seems like what I may get. Next decision is do I want a new CORE or have ATEi mill my slide...I'm leaning toward ATEi.

Some good discussion here:

Well, for the moment I would suggest having one milled to fit a RMR. My new CORE has a fire pin issue which keeps the second round from ever making it into the chamber. It is going back to the dealer today. Currently I'm not too happy with Smith and Wesson. Hope it doesn't take them forever to correct the issue. Here is a link with photos showing what happened with my new CORE:

Good discussion?

Are you ******** me?...

Remind me to just jump off a cliff if you ever mention it being a "bad" discussion.

Well, just to give an update, I talked with a rep at Smith and Wesson. He took my info and emailed a return label. I dropped it off the Fedex this afternoon. Two day shipping. Now it is wait and see.

I'm still interested in this thread and RMR's. Hope someday before the snow flies to have something to shoot.

What did you find objectionable about it?

I have the RMR01 and love it. Its my wife's home protection gun and shes awesome with it even thought she shoots best with scoped rifles (see also: not irons)

It takes practice to get the reticle in your field of view when you draw/raise the gun up but after you do is magnificent.

This CORE is about 2.5 years old, has roughly 3500 rounds through it, same zero, same battery (though it is in a dark lock box 80% of the time). You will want to by the rubber piece from trijicon that goes between the sight and the slide before you mount it.

Looks like a safe queen... :)

I would put the Vortex Razor up against the RMR anytime. They really take a beating and keep on ticking, plus the screen is easier to see around, because the frame is narrower, but still rugged.

My buddy and I each just bought a Dual Illumination RMR his was a green 9moa dot and mine is a 12moa amber triangle. both are great. and the dot is small. Whats the purpose of it? are you just bringing the gun up and hitting a steel plate?
