Anyone have any suggestions on an affordable FLIR rig? Preferably something with a QD mount so I can use it on and off a rifle.

What does affordable mean? That like saying ASAP.

Sent from somewhere in the time space continuum

Yes, very interesting at that price point. I'd like to see some real field reports about the durability.

You get what you pay for in thermal and night vision. I probably wouldnt go less than 320x240 sensor, and would opt for a 640 device.
The new ir hunter series is fairly well reviewed.

Any of the atn thor thermal gear ive used is also fairly solid because they are using flir sensors.

Tnvc is having a cyber monday sale with 20% off the irhunter. I'm not sure what your nudget is tho.

If you just need a handheld, the Therm-App is probably the best bang for buck. It is a sensor that plugs into your android smart phone/tablet and has a 336x256 sensor. I sold all of my other gear and just kept that and it meets my needs fine. It is $999 and destroys anything else in that price range.

I am mainly looking to track game. I have a Seek Thermal for iOS but am not all that impressed. I would really like to keep this under $4k

The seek thermal is pretty bad, and i have a feeling that torrey pines clip on is only slighly better. For better quality you need higher res and more germanium, both of which cost most more. For 4k, you can get a really solid device. Tnvc's cyber monday sale on the ir hunter will likely meet your needs, or something like this:

Amazon has great returns during the holidays if you find that you dont like it.
