I don't know scopes real well, just want something imexpensive. I see a Nikon on sale at Cabelas for only $100? But wonder if I should get a Barska instead from Amazon for an extra $50. Any opinions on these:

I think the Nikon should do you just fine. I run an older prostaff on mine and it does everything I need it to.

The P-223 is what I use and its wonderful. Just make sure to get the AR mount and not the cheaper .22 mount they look exactly the same and some people sell them as the ,223 mount but they are too tight on the rails. Once put on your rails are scratched to hell getting it back off.

Thanks, I'll stick with the cheaper one then. I have th Burris Pepr mount already.

I would go with the Nikon. I have the Nikon 3x32 carbine scope, and it works for me. Lifetime warranty.

I'm putting a Leupy Hog Plex 1-4x20 in a DNZ mount on a AR Friday. I don't know how , where, or what AR though. It might go retro style

The VX Hog is based off the VX1 scope. If you plan to use the adjustments a lot I would avoid it.

With the adoption of 4.5x max scopes for CMP and NRA service rifle this year there is a lot of testing going on.

WOA just released an article about the scope, based on the Mark AR, that they have developed with Leupold for SR competition. Has CDS, couple of new reticle options and parallax set at 300 yards. No prices yet though.

For an A4, the standard rear aperture height is 1.38" off the rail. Not many of the one piece base / ring setups will get you there. Most are about 1.5.

How would that work with an A3?

Is this bushnell scope one you have used and you give your approval? Your opinion is respected on here so I was just confirming.

I love my Mark AR. Nice and crisp and the bullet drop built in works perfectly.

Anyone know who makes Cabelas scopes? Specifically this one?

I wasn't planning on it by any means, but they had one in the bargain cave for $50 so I picked it up. Brand new, no box.

Don't know much about the Cabela's branded scopes, but can confirm the Nikons are a good value for the money (have one on my deer rifle).

It's always fun to check out the bargain cave, though ;^D

Yeah, Ive gotten some great deals in the bargain cave. Just hate the no return policy if something is wrong. One time I setup an entire tent inside to see what was wrong with it before buying it:). It turned out perfect, I think someone maybe just made up an excuse to return it and Cabelas never verified it. The tag said something was ripped I think, but it was fine. I think I paid like $40 for a tent worth $250 or $300.

I have not used that one, nor looked through it. I have looked through their XRS's and used one a little. They were excellent!! There is a tracking test on YouTube of some higher end scopes, and the Bushnell was one of the few that worked flawlessly.

That price sure sounds better than the $70 I was paying for the Burris PEPR. But I'm wondering if I should stick with the Burris in case I get a better scope down the road?

i will be honest the price is why i bought it...

i put together a mock dissipator because i don't intend to run optics all the time

but Cabelas put the alpha scope on sale for $60 at same time they had a $10 off $50 coupon so i figured why not
