Taking my 5 year old grandson into the two-man ladder stand I have set up in the woods.

Not sure if the "regular" harnesses that come with the stand will adjust small enough...

Figured there are one or two smart guys out there, or at least someone that had this issue before, and solved it!

open to ideas! Dont want to make it a huge project... since we wont be up there more than an hour at a time.. lol

I use the rope with the knot that slides up and down as you climb.Cant remember what the name is, but they sell them at tractor supply. I used really big rivets to make the belt on harness smaller for my kids

It has NOTHING to do with the amount of time you are up there. It is the climb up and the climb down. And that is the same whether you are up there for 15 minutes, or all day.

I am sure that one of the Hunters Ed instructors will have a suggestion on harnesses to look at, I don't think that any of them are inexpensive.

Roundballer nailed it.

We can't really "endorse" in our class. However this is the harness we use for demonstration.

A Prussic knot?

As an aside, here is a good source for many knots.

I have a chart in my Instructors book that details the speed of impact and equivalent weight on ground impact.

The numbers are staggering! I'll be at my club later and I will grab the numbers.

To Roundballers point, the majority of falls occur while climbing or descending. that safety line or a linesman belt should be used ALWAYS!

Statistics say that one out of three tree stand users will fall at some time in their hunting career.

A Prussic knot?

Yes that is it. I like it simple, easy, and it works.

I couldn't get the Prussic knot video to work but here it is below for the cost and the time it takes everyone should learn it and use it.

The best way is to stay the hell out of a tree stand. I know at least 4 paraplegic people because of a stupid tree stand. Dumb idea.
