Pleased to announce another free NRA certified range safety officer course, offered by Michigan Gun Owners!

The class will be held at the Novi, MI Gander Mountain November 12th, 9am until 6pm.

Requirements to take the class:

MGO Member/ Needs to be done before date of class if you are not already a member.

NRA Member/ Needs to be done before date of class if you are not already a member.
You will need your NRA membership number the day of class so don't wait until the last minute to do this.

Yes,you need to be a member of both.

You need to send a Refundable $50 check to hold your spot, you will get it back when you show up.

Make check payable to MGO or Michigan gun owners, please put "RSO class" in the memo line.

I am planning on doing another one after the Holidays, Probably in January.

I would like to again thank mikeb32 and the entire B.O.D. for putting this together! Also, a big salute to SeeTee and all the volunteers (forgot some screen names) who helped facilitate this event! This class was very informative on the fine details of range safety, and the importance of the RSO and their responsibilities. The 9 hours flew by, with ample breaks; which included an hour lunch with provided food and beverage. On top of a great class, it was nice to finally put a face with some of the screen names, and I look forward to attending more MGO events in the future!

Spent the last couple of hours trying to think of something critical to say about todays class........I got nothing! It was a great class and like everyone has already said, the 9 hours flew by. Please add my thanks to Mike and the entire BoD for their commitment to all of us that benefited from the class. The pizza was pretty good too. I also want to thank all the guys that brought the many firearms for display. In hindsight, I should have brought a muzzleloader for display. :-D

Gentlemen..............Thank You all for the kind words. I have completed and submitted My Course Report to the NRA, so you can start signing in tomorrow morning to get your Credentials, I know a lot of you grabbed one of my business cards, so if you have any issues with the sign in procedures just give me a call.

I personally would like to Thank all of the Students for all of the participation you all provided in this Class, as I said first thing this morning, participation makes the 9 hours go by a lot quicker than listening to me talk.

To all my fellow Board Members, Tyler Hamm, Mike Phillips, Tom Dalton, John Olari, I appreciate all of you showing up in support of this Program, displaying the guns, bringing in guns for display and for all the help you provided.

As always, I would like to Thank my buddy Carl Trombetta ( See Tee) for another awesome job with set up, and making sure that I don't mess up anything too bad. In all seriousness, without him, We would be in bad shape!! Thanks again Carl for all you do for MGO!!

I would like to say "Thank You" to Josh Howley, who drove about 2 1/2 hours down or across from Three Rivers, to be an Assistant Instructor for this Class.
Josh is a CRSO as well but today was his First go around as an Instructor, Nice Job Josh and again, Thank You for making the drive.

This is what it is all about and why I joined MGO!

I would love to see an MGO RSO class! A class that doesn't require going through the NRA. I don't mind that the NRA gets money, it is just that when we give a free class at our range, about half of the people don't even sign up with the NRA. Then, getting those that do register to renew their credentials is a real PITA. Lifetime credentials would really help. When I took the NRA RSO class, I didn't realize I was supposed to send in paperwork and money to complete my education. I sat through another class, recently, only to be called away to work before the exam. Personally, I'm done taking RSO classes. It should be more about disseminating knowledge regarding range safety than getting another card (and bill) from the NRA.
