I was just wondering how many trap shooters we have here?

I shot a little when I was a kid. Then this past winter one of our club members invited me out to shoot at our open trap and I had a blast. I was using my winchester 1300. Well now I found an awesome deal on a bt-99. So now I am looking to shoot more that just open trap which is all that we have at our club.

I also shoot quiet a bit of blackpowder trap also.

I love to trap and skeet shoot, but don't get to do it nearly enough to be very good at it. Dang college sucks up all my money. I honestly enjoy trap/skeet shooting over handgun and rifles.

Up until last year I shot a ton of sporting clays. I was in competition and won myself up to Masters class. Now, with two kids on the verge of going to college, pay cuts and bills to pay I didn't shoot one match at all last year. In fact I sold two of the guns (still have one left). Trap/skeet costs less to shoot than SP so maybe I'll take that up. Or maybe not.

Any of the clay games are fun. My favoritepart is watching the clay pigeons turn into dust balls.

BT-99 best choice for a beginner as well as a seasoned shooter.
They are tuff as nails and last forever.
Wish I had a nickel for even box of AA's I shot through one!!!
Expensive sport but well worth it!!! Reloading is a must if you want to travel.
I'd go as far to say the best game out of all the shooting games.
But everyone has their favorites this coming from a 20 yr AAA 27yd AAA shooter. ;)

Most of the greats hang out there and give tips.
The forum is a blast.

Couple of Rags>>> http://www.shotgunsportsmagazine.com/ the owner is Frank Kodl he is a AAA 27yd AAA and a great guy.

This is the ATA Standard.

Also if you live in Michigan or Ohio you must make a trip to Jaqua's in Findlay Ohio.
Go during good weather to shoot or just test and look at shotguns!!!
You might even want to get a new one or trade in on a nice used Ljutic..hehe

Also a trip to shoot in the Grand American each year is a must!!!

Have fun...

I go a couple of times a year. Usually spur of the moment when a friend calls up and wants to go. It's the only reason I keep the 1100 20gauge, since I do not hunt.

that Jaquas looks interesting. I'll have to keep that in mind next time I am that way.

Trapshooters.com does have alot of info. I wish it were setup more like this forum though. It has to much info to be organized that way.

what is the better of the two magazines though?

I'm a member at wayne county and used to shoot trap and skeet every weekend but due to lay offs and short on funds I haven't been there in 6 months.

...what is the better of the two magazines though?Well depends if you are a ATA shooter or not and follow the circuit.

Both are Great, Trap & Field is a bit expensive and only to serve the ATA.
So I would got with Shotgun Sports for a bit more variety to start.

several years ago I went to the Grand American Trap shoot when it was in Dayton. Wow, what an event! The vendors were overwhelming! Now that was a fantastic gun show, focused on shotguns!!!

I have never shoot any registered targets. I would like to try sometime though, but for now I will try my hand at calcuttas. They sound like it may be alot of fun.
