I found a GW ZF4 scope in my deceased dad's gun cabinet.

Actual markings are:

GW ZF4

53916

DDX

Also has a non colored triangle and an "L" *EDIT* It has a Blue triangle. I noticed as I shot pictures (Pics are on down the thread).

I have the leather & rubber lens covers as well.

I have read some about them, but was wondering if anyone here has additional information.

If you have the mounts, that about triples the value.

The "L" implies that it was for the Luftwaffe.

Everything looks good, but determining if the L is authentic would need a better closeup because there have been some people that have been putting fake L stamps to enhance the value of their scopes.

Interesting stuff, it took me a minute to find the "L" you referenced.

It's very highly doubtful the "L" is a fake as this scope had not seen the light of day in as long as I can remember prior to my dad's passing in July of this year. I'm 59 and I never knew this was in his gun cabinet. He served in the US Army from 1950-1952 and for a portion of that time was stationed in Germany. Oh how I wish I could ask him for the story of how he acquired it!
