Looking for opinions on the Vortex Crossfire II 1-4x with the V-Plex reticle, not the V-Brite. Cabela's has it on sale for $120 and I am considering purchasing for my M&P Sport. I don't actually need an optic as I do like the red dot on it, but I think a 1-4x could be fun to try out. Also, this is just for target shooting, typically 50-100 yards is what I have access to.

not bad, i really like most of vortex's stuff. i have both that optic and the nikon equivalent for .223 to be honest the nikon for 40 bucks more is a better scope, but not sure its better for 40 bucks? The nikon is a little easier to zero and the glass is shade better in the sun, but its pretty close. You really cant beat the vortex for the money. I was not a fan of their stuff in the beginning but i have converted over the last two years. I have a higher end leopold 1 x4 and its not worth the extra money. Cheers

Thanks for the input Wheezzle. I bought the vortex diamondback 4-12 when it was on sale early this fall and was impressed with the quality for the price. It may not be as good as the Leupold on my deer rifle but for a target and maybe varmint rifle it is close enough to not spend the extra. The Nikon does look good but its normal price is $190, so its a $70 upcharge from the current sale price. Plus I don't really see much use in a 600 yard BDC reticle on a 1-4 scope. Seems like it could be a potential and completely unnecessary distraction on a scope designed for quicker target acquisition at short to mid range.
