I just ordered all the parts to convert my Saiga 20 shotgun to a standard pistol grip. There is a great video on line that shows how it's done.

Anybody on here done this conversion on their Saiga rifle or shotgun? I ordered all the parts from Dinzag Arms (http://www.dinzagarms.com). It's a Michigan company in Clio for those not familiar with them.

Wish me luck! :help:

I've converted a 12Ga and a 7.62x39. The 7.62 was pretty straight forward but the 12Ga required machining the receiver and the FCG.

There are some parts on here that will make it easier. http://saigatechusa.com/

Advice:
1. Stick a rag in the barrel to keep the metal chips out.
2. Take your time!

Good luck! Shoot me a PM if you need any help.

Shaun

Why did you have to machine the shotgun receiver?

Here is a list of parts that I ordered:
FCGPGC1 FCG PG Saiga : 1 : 52.00
AKPGNS AK PG Nut w/Screw : 1 : 11.00
AKNYHP Hole Plugs : 1 : 1.00
TGHWARE1 Triggerguard Hardware : 1 : 1.00
AKRETP AK FCG Ret Plate : 1 : 15.00
AKBSWB AK Stock Warsaw Black : 1 : 52.00
PGRIPB AK PG Black : 1 : 19.00

Thanks for the 'rag in the barrel' idea.

I had to machine the receiver b/c there was not a hole for the grip nut. The FCG that you bought should not require machining (mine did since I used a double-hook trigger). You will likely need to machine the AK FCG Ret Plate to allow the BCG to cycle (unless this one is made for Saiga's).

I got my parts from MidwayUSA since I have a dealer account; The Dinzag parts may already be modified and save you a lot of time on the grinder.

The FCG from Dinzag has been modified for the Saiga already. I paid a bit extra but hopefully it will be worth it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the PG nut opening is already there.

If the hole is not there, make sure that you lay it out before you cut it! Here is the blueprint http://www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/Step_4.htm

Be exact and take your time. Measure twice, cut once.
