I'm about to dibble into shots out to 600 yards with a .308 boltaction and am looking at scopes. Optics planet has the Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x50 for 199$ shipped on sale right now. Does anybody have any experiences with the Crossfire II?
Or maybe a suggestion for a different scope in the same price range (250$)?
Thanks in advance for any input.

I think you'll like the Vortex Diamondback's better. Clearer and brighter glass and still affordable.

Or check out B&H for better prices.

I've a older Crossfire, not the II 4x18x, that was originally on my AR and later moved to a CZ 455. Only real beef I have with the scope is the crosshairs are quite thick for my use, although they are just fine for some other types of shooting. The adjustments are good and it has held zero well so far. The glass is as good or better then other scopes in this price range like Bushnell, or Weaver. I did have a problem with its ability to adjust out parallax at the bottom end of its settings and, it took a quick trip back to have this fixed when I 1st bought it. IMO over all it is not a bad optic for the money.

Good deal on Vortex here. http://cameralandny.com/spec-sheet.html?catalog[name]=Vortex-Crossfire-II-4-12x44---V-Plex-%23CF2-31013-%28Demo-Unit%29-vortex&catalog[product_guids][0]=1279781

I had a Crossfire II 4-12 x 50 .

the 3-9 x 40 Leupold VXI is better.

I have two Vortex Spitfire 3X's and one Diamondback and am very happy with all three.

After reading up on the crossfire vs the diamond back, I'm leaning more towards the diamond back.
Thanks for the input.

Let me know how you like the Diamondback. I'm looking for one of those to throw on a high powered air rifle I just picked up. I have the Vortex Strike Eagle on my AR and love it. Even their low/mid end scopes seem to be good value for money.

You may want to buy an air rifle specific scope for it. The different recoil impulse will tear up a regular rifle scope fast.

A Spring Rifle will, a pump up air rifle won't
