Which do you prefer and why?

Absolute on the rocks with a lime wedge.

I prefer absolute as to 1/3 co-witness.

lower 1/3 makes the sight stick up higher. not a lot, but enough to be annoying sometimes.
if you're really used to shooting with irons, abs cowitness is the way to go though. There's something strange about looking OVER your sights.
but at the same time, lower 1/3 gives you more view that's not obstructed by your sights.
I have different rifles set up different ways. aimpoint PRO is set up as full because it's big and I have it on an sbr that i want to keep small.
larger rifles are lower 1/3 because they're already large and i want to be able to see more.
my CX4 is set up for "lower 1/3" because it's on a see-through mount, and the CX4 has really low sights that you can see through the see-through mount. a full-cowitness height mount would block them.
But i swap sights around a lot...

1/3 because that way the sights don't clutter up my view

My RDS ended up as absolute when it was mounted.so,I just left it alone.

Neither. No iron sights. Have some but they are in the range bag, where they will stay.

Mine are 1/3 on my XCR, but I have front and rear flip ups. So if it was absolute, I wouldn't care, cuz you can't see them folded anyway. If you're talking a standard AR front sight gas block, I'd probably really want 1/3. But then, I'd never buy an AR with the damned fixed front post. I think the advantage of the absolute is consistent cheekweld, where 1/3 is uncluttered view.

I have ARS with them both ways and I honestly prefer the 1/3 cowitness setup for the same reasons others have mentioned; better field of view through the optic with the B.U. sights up.
