Did they give you an indication of when you'll get your gun back? I've heard a couple of horror stories about people trying to get theirs back.

Did you have a lead or was this just good ole fashion good luck?

No ETA on it being returned, pending it's release as evidence.
Just dumb luck I suppose, they recovered it in an unrelated investigation from what I'm told.

Detroit Tackleberry, did you ever get your gun back?

Not yet, looks like it won't be anytime soon.

By the time you can get it back, you won't want it.

It will be so beat up, you won't recognize it.

Absolutely unacceptable, but not at all surprising.

Your firearm has probably been locked up longer than the guy who stole it.

Sad thing. You’re probably right!!

According to court record; the suspect plead guilty this past Thursday, so 🤞 the prosecutor will release my property this week. Not holding my breath, but hoping for the Best!

It gets even better, the local PD reached out to me and advised I can get her back in 3 weeks. Once the BG has been sentenced.... woohoo!

It will most likely be mysteriously lost, huh, go figure, we can't find it..... I hope not, but I would not be surprised. Happened to a friend of mine, Inox 92, only thing he could have done was get a lawyer and sue for the cost, that would have cost him more than the gun was worth.

Westland PD's property department is extremely good about keeping track of and preserving items held in their position. I'm interested in DT's assessment once his property is returned.

Ludacris that it takes 13 months for this to go through the court system.

Absolutely! But, I'll take solace in the fact that no one was hurt with it after it was stolen, the BG is facing justice (well kinda), and finally I will be getting it back regardless of condition. Being a Glock; the tenifer holds up well, so I'm optimistic, but worst case, I'll send it to get Dougified to include refinishing!

Your advice was spot on, not only well preserved, very professional to boot! 363 days from theft to return, from some of the horror stories I've heard, my experience wasn't bad outside the fact I had to deal with it at all.

Just out of curiosity, who was the BG, and what was his sentence?

Detroit Tackleberry

Rather not name names, but they received probation for CCW. Either told a good tale, or the DA dropped the ball with this plea bargain.

The DAs like to get a guaranteed victory. They talk about that saving the taxpayers the cost of a trial crap, but it's about the win.
Otherwise, as a convicted felon who was CAUGHT with a stolen firearm, he should have been slammed! It's funny how guns are dangerous when in the hands of a law abiding citizens,
but when a felon gets caught with one, meh what's the big deal.

This is pretty ridiculous that a victim of a crime is made to wait to get their property back like this. Some firearms would be a rusty mess after all that time in some evidence locker without proper care.
