I have a couple WW2 pistols and was wondering what I should coat them with to keep them from rusting if they are just sitting in the safe? I have some bore butter for my muzzleloader and though about coating all metal surfaces with that as it is a paste, and won’t run off. Any thoughts?

I have one from th 40's and just make sure I leave a little extra CLP on it. I do that with any that I dont shoot at least on a yearly basis. Other than that I don't do anything special than my other guns in the safe.

I'm sure others have better suggestions than that so I'll be watching your thread.
