Ear buds

Looking for some guidance and personal experiences regard ear buds. I've used traditional muffs forever, and currently have Howard Leight Pro's, which claim 30dB protection. This heat spell is finally getting me to look into something smaller. Not sure if in-ear buds would stay in, because of the forest of hair growing inside my ear. Not sure if over the ear buds would be better because the forest of hair growing ON my ears would help keep them in place. I do like the electronics amplifying normal conversations. Willing to spend some $, but nothing approaching our national debt. Any advice would be appreciated. Thx.

I bought a pair of Walker Razor XV electronic ear buds. They worked very well...for awhile. I wore them shooting and while cutting wood with a chainsaw. Very good noise suppression. The XV model has bluetooth so I could hear and answer my phone while wearing the.. Had them about 9 months and they stopped working, wouldn't hold a charge (they're rechargable) and you can't replace the battery and Walker wouldn't replace them since the warranty had run out. For that reason I can't recommend them, but they worked well when they actually worked.

As for your hairy ears...trim them.

They work well. About as well at my Walker Electronic muffs. They don't fit perfect, but do the job well. I probably wouldn't buy they again.

They don't give you any passive hearing, so that's the down side. However 25+db suppression is the upside. They work excellent in that regard.

I've got some Walker Razor electronic muffs that I usually default to. They work well, don't get a ton of interference and the cost is right on them. They're easy to cling on and off, versus custom inserts.
I have some custom inserts as well, which require a custom mold, a few weeks to make, etc. Most ear doctors can do them with the 3M Peltor TEP electronic modules for active noise cancellation.

Also sounds like you may want to consider waxing your ears instead of cutting, trimming, etc. with a grooming kit.
It hurts like hell for 30 seconds, but you don't need to worry about it for another few months.
And removes all the issues in keeping plugs or inserts properly in your ear.

Not sure what you plan to use them for, but I use WorkTunes. I use them for everything from shooting to mowing the lawn. Good hearing protection as well as bluetooth to your phone for music or audio books, etc.

Bought a pair for my father and he wears them all the time as well.

I have isotunes and use them most days. The foam rubber tips get worn and are replaced every few weeks. Bluetooth to my phone for everything. Cant hear cobversations though.
