Hey my fellow Michiganders,

I'm looking for some input from those who are into archery, and live or play in SW Mich. I'm interested in opening a bow shop, but I also want to have one of the first if not the only 20 - 30 target indoor 3D shoot.

So any input into what you would like to see in the shop ( brands, gear etc....) and what kind of targets or layout or both. Please feel free to give your input it could very well shape the final product. Thanks in advance for your support.

Brad

I don't meet your requirement for answering, but may in the future. I'd like to see a range that can handle my bow.

not going to get much out of pacticing low powered shooting.

I like in Schoolcraft...and I like archery. Depending on prices I'd be willing.

I like my Martin bow, so I would stock that brand. I also think the Thunderhead broad heads are great, but most places don't have all the different grain weights, so a full selection of those would be nice.

For gear wise a lot of places stock either hoyt a matthews, i've shot both, but don't own, but prefer matthews. I'd have bowtech. the next bow i get will be a bowtech. i've shot a few at the local shot and made my mind that thats what i'm getting next. PSE seems to be a popular brand. Do your research. every person likes something different. I've shot 3D at a shop in saginaw and it was cool, but the guys prices were a little expensive and the only reason i did it was because he taught an archery class at SVSU that i was in. Yea i know archery class but i needed a credit to be considered full time.

brands: Mathews, PSE, Hoyt, Bow Tech Ect...

now that crossbows are legal, I would probably carrier a couple different brands like excaliber, etc...

Full line of Carbon and aluminum arrows

Broadheads: Muzzy, Thunderhead, Rage Etc...

Sights: I am prone to the Cobra fiber obtic sights that have a light attached for low light shooting conditions.

Rests: drop away rests, whisker biscuit, etc...

shooting 3d is cool, but it would be nice to have a range that offers that video shoot where you put the blunt tips on your arrows and shoot at an actual movie screen while different scene's play.

Just a few thoughts I had.

oh yeah, a range with a elevated point would be neat.

You need a woman behind the counter that has a "very outstanding personality".

with the recent changes to the crossbow regulations in MI, i would seriously consider making sure targets would be suitable for crossbow use.

A balcony or platform that would be used as a tree stand simulation would be cool.

My uncle had an indoor range, he lined the ceiling with foam, then made an air cannon that would shoot 3" diameter foam balls, then people would compete shooting 'skeet' with flu-flu arrows.

After the event they would drive out in a man lift and recover the arrows.

It was quite an interesting competition.
