Ok. Without laughing can anyone suggest how I might remove this idiot proof mark from my slide? Can't believe I did this. Something I can attempt? Something I should leave to a smith? Something I just have to live with? Hope the photo works.

Put a piece of tape over it and call it a day.

I wonder what Billy May's Magic "Fix It Pen" would do to that....
Me... I'd live with it...

I would just leave it there, If it were a High end pistol I could see spending the dough to having it polished or refinished. But if it drives ya nuts to look at it. Sell it for around $275-$300 and put the money you would have spent on fixing it with that,And get yourself a Sig or a Glock just my :twocents:

Thanks to all. I figured I would have to live with it. It was one that I inherited from an uncle and I could not part with it. Sentimemtal value. Little things like that scratch bugs me. Especially when I was just not paying attention when putting it back together. I was just curious if there was a simple fix. Thanks again.

you could completly disassemble the slide, then sand it with some very fine paper, that is flat on the table, and move it only with the grain.

may work, may look like crap. I'd just leave it. did something even worse to my P89. I had the arc.

I would take a scribe and finish the scratch to make it look like a Nike Swish. Then market the gun as a Nike Special Edition.
Seriously, Live with it. Be proud that it was handed down to you. When your time comes and you have to leave the gun to somebody, just explain how and when the scratch happened and make sure they don't make the same mistake. The scratch isn't all that bad.
Good Shooting, MOOSE

Thanks to all. I will just live with it and when I pass it down it will have a story to go with it. At least I didn't dink up the Nomad he left to me.

You could put 1 on the other side and sorta balance it out. :banghead:

I've done it as well , but in wood and was able to fix it

Throw it down the driveway a couple times so that scratch does not stand out so much.

You could always give it to me, and I will shoulder the burden for you! :p

Make up a "R.E.A.L." cool way that it got that scratch and stick with it!
