It would be. At least for the CPR portion of it. I can always talk with the AHA and see what I can work out.

Will let people know when/if this happens

Just took a CPR/AED refresher course, but I might be interested in the First Aid portion.

Thanks,

The first aid portion will be taught by a very expeirenced Paramedic, myself, and possibly a few others. We'll include the survival/outdoors type of F/A

I'm working on getting all the certs and all taken care of. The biggest hurdle right now is getting the funding/availability of manequins and a few other things.

I'm shooting for December some time. Again, not sure on cost, when, where, etc. If things go right, the cost will just be for the books, some to cover dummies, and anything "at cost".

I'm pretty sure this will be too far away. But if it ends up being in the Metro Detroit area I have 4 Scout leaders that would be interested. I might be interested too, just to freshen up the skills.

uh i thought you were a basic in a medic class?
if i am mistaken please forgive me.
not that there is anything in a first aid class that a basic would be unqualified to teach.

Not me, but a very good friend of mine who has been a paramedic for over 10 years.

This has been all tied up. They make it harder then it is to get the actual stuff done. Just needed a head count initially to see who was fully interested.

Here's another idea. I work for a medical manufacturer. I can get an employee discount on the Philips AED for $950 complete with case , mounting bracket, extra leads , etc... I plan on buying one for myself. Anyone interested? I can buy three a year.

For those interested, have you taken a CPR class in the past 2 years and if so do you still have your books?

Would you be willing to share books to keep cost down? ;)

If you are going through AHA, the books are not completely necessary. AHA's thought is that if students are looking at books during the class, they are not paying attention to the video. I always teach my classes with no books-just video. If afterwards, the student wants a book, I make a list and order through channing-bete. I have taught ACLS, CPR and F/A all this way for some time. If I were closer, I would love to help you out. PM me if you have any questions. GOOD LUCK:-)
