Thanks for the links. I've checked them out and will most certainly use them for upgrades especially their trigger kits. As for "opinions", it's easy to pick the fly poop out of the pepper, & I do appreciate honest ones. I like my XD and will be getting another!

Thinking about the Springfield XD45 Tactical with 5" barrel for IPSC/IDPA competition. I carry the XD45 4" barrel and want to get another XD45 for competition to enhance memory feel, handling, extra magazines etc.If your primary purpose in competing is to improve your proficiency with your regular carry piece: By all means. (N.B. Never been an XD fan and can't speak to the performance of the particular pistol about which you're inquiring.) But if that's the case: Why not just use your actually carry pistol? I'm not sure there's much to be gained in buying something that's "similar to" your carry pistol, esp. if you're subsequently going to tweak the competition pistol to the point it behaves significantly differently from your carry piece. That is: Unless you're just looking for an excuse to buy another pistol, and you happen to be fond of the platform you're using.

If your purpose is to replicate your carry gun, why buy a second XD? Just use the one you have.

Don't get caught up in the notion that a tricked out, longslide version of your carry gun with different sights, trigger feel, etc will make you shoot your primary carry piece any better. Those are two distinctly different shooting guns at that point.

If you want to have a beat around gun that you intend to shoot the piss out of, not clean, and throw in the bag after a match, buy an identical copy of your carry gun.

For tactical competition the 5" XD 45 is solid. I have one in 45 and one in 9mm and they are both very accurate shooters. I've never had a problem with either and each has had over 8k+ round down the pipe (shooting blazer). YMMV.
