Challenging stages this month. That is one of my big draws to this organization. Decision making and technical shooting skills are always being tested.

Didn't take any pics. I think a few others did, I will cross-post them if/when they are up.

Scores are up. (http://www.actshooters.com/results_mi/2010/jan10.html)

I shot like sheet today. Coupled with geting dinged 35 sec for blasting the head off a HT on stage 4.

It was a fun day though for sure.

Blasting pasters off a target during a game: 35s penalty.
Going home to hug your child in real life: well you get the picture.

Here are stage descriptions I posted on another forum:

And in true ACTS style we rolled around in the snow all day and nobody bitched.

Try making people at a USPSA event dive prone in 14 degrees and 6" of snow.

I didn't take any pics so I won't start a new thread this time.

Barb planned 4 very good stages and tested a lot of decision making and technical shooting skills.

Stage 1 had 8 steel targets at 100 yards. There were three open 55 gal drums. One at the left, center, and right of the start line. Shooters had to engage 6 pieces of steel from the left, all 8 from the middle, and 6 again from the right (20 shots total). Shooters could choose to take much ammo as they wanted, but any rounds left in the gun were a 5 second penalty each. Misses were 10 seconds. This forced shooters to know their rifle and their skills and make their hits. I took 20 rounds trying to show off and missed my very first shot. Hit the other 19 though. ;)

Stage 2 was a "Dot Torture" target available at various websights. Shooters fired 10 rounds pistol, 10 rounds rifle. Pistol shots from 5 yards, rifle from 10. Circles are 1.5" diameter and any shots outside of the circles were 10 second penalties. A lot of the less seasoned shooters quickly forgot their holdover. I tossed 4 rounds, wasn't real happy with that.

Stage 3 had 4 targets stacked like this:

X
-----X
X
-----X
X
-----X
X
-----X
(Ignore the dash marks, they just make it format correctly on the screen. X's are targets.

Shooters moved through the center, engaging the right targets with the pistol right hand ONLY, left targets left hand ONLY. Once forward, shooters moved rearward engaging with the rifle, transitioning shoulders for each side like the pistol. Off side skills and smooth transitions were needed here.

Stage 4 was a blind stage, shooter entered a door to an array of targets and hostages and were required to use their rifle support side ONLY. Your strong side arm was not to be used for support of the gun at all. This one messes with a lot of shooters.

Low round count but technical shooting is always fun. Way better than the 'sea of cardboard' I've seen at some other events. Good job Barb.

(90+ arent and wont ever be) because they fail to train for all possiblities

DQ was an ND into the dirt at the begining of the blind stage. Always gotta control that trigger finger, it happens. Jeff

Not sure what happened today but DQ's are a part of competitive shooting.Yes they are. There are those who have DQed (me) and those who will be DQed, but sooner or later everyone will be DQed.

Barb did a good job. I like her thinking. Got to get out there to one of these. It's bee way too long!
