Why no FMJ?
I've been shooting pins at Peters with 9mm FMJ for awhile now and none came back... once a few months ago a .45 bounced back and hit someone

True...

I've been shooting pins for over 2 years going every week and BY FAR .45's come back much more then FMJ 9mm.

JHP 9mm only is an ignorent rule.

Now if you state only JHP .45, I'll agree. Many have been hit and hurt by .45 coming back but no one from 9mm that I know of.

I can't afford to blast pins with JHPs so that option is out.

You can use a .22 if you want.

You could always drill out the FMJ bullets. ;-)

Oh yeah, i'm sure that would work out well for me.

What you do is seat them in the casing with the base of the bullet up and the tip inside the casing. If you do that with FMJ you essentially have a hollow point!

I hear they shoot better that way anyway...

Disclaimer: DO NOT DO THIS!

REMOVE THE IGNORANT RULE and there would be no need for you to be "trying" to get cheaper HP ammo.

what are the rules on .45 ammo?

you should put all ammo rules and restrictions alon with anything else in your first post bud

that way you dont have to keep answering questions

also would an ak variant be allowed? i wanna get in on this but my 1911 is needing work before i shoot it

.45 should be Jacketed Hollow Point Only

Ball .45 are by far the worst at staying down range.

9mm fmj vs hp. This is what is keeping me away right now. All I have is fmj and I'm not using my PD stuff.

Sure easy to say $2.00 is not an issue but lets see. Single income family, $15.00 for the shoot, Another $10.00 for a second. $32.OO in ammo. There goes my allowance.

$15 for one and my $12.00/100 reloaded fmj's Big difference!
$15+16= $31 for one table. $25+32= $57.00 for two tables using purchased HP's

$15+$6=$21 for one table $25+$12=$37 for two tables using FMJ reloads (I do have hp's on order).

If I want to shoot my .22lr I will do so at our property. It's my 9mm I want more practice with. Getting that for now at the property too.

With cost of ammo and supplies it adds up fast. Were NOT getting any tax breaks. Simple for the owners to say hey it's only a few bucks more... Well they make it. If it's only a few buck then how about dropping the price a few bucks:-). I bet the difference could be made up in more shooter!

nope, sometimes you have to hit them more than once though, or sometimes when you hit them there is a delayed reaction to the fall.

I am not sure what the rules are this range, where I normally shoot theres different classes, some classes make you shoot them off the table, others you just have to knock them over... I suck so I normally shoot the knock them over class.

Do you have any video clips of your setup? I've noticed different ranges do pin shoots differently...

FxMM87
02-22-2010, 02:44 PM
I dont' sorry

what we do is set the table up all the way down range, so we have 5 Metal Tables side by side then we measure 37.5 ft back up range and set up 5 more plastic tables for the shooting to sit there stuff on we set 5 pins on each metal table down range .22 is set at the back of the table

The 22 hollow points work better than the round nose. They can grab the pin better to knock them over
