Just picked up my smithy 686 .357 mag with 8 1/4" long pipe.

Gun will be used for target and hunting. Im looking into a red dot style sight for it. Would like a low profile as oposed to a 30-50mm tube.

what are you guys running on your big guns? were to get one? looking for a under $100 unit. thanks!

did your 686 come all ready to scope? If not, there arent too many
"rugged" (re-decent) scoping options that wont involve drilling on the gun..

and most of those suck, as they tend to shear off, or strip screws quickly....

look hard, and dont skimp on the mounts......

I have been boycotting Bushnell for almost 40 years. Had to do with a pistol scope I bought that less than a year old when it broke and them trying to charge me to fix it (and having it break again a week after I got it back). It was supposed to be warrantied for 20 years. So I try not to ever miss an opportunity to bad mouth them!

Instead of looking for cheap, why not look for used and try to get something a little better for the same amount of money?
