Ok...

does anybody have a good way of removing a Glock magazine baseplate without removing the #%@&*! skin off your knuckles? :cuss:

Have an armorer do it!

I *think* that removing the base plates voids the warranty (I know it did at one time).

Anyways, if you're bent on doing it, go to Glockmeister.com and look in the tech section. They have detailed instructions with photos.

Those pics and instructions are directly out of the owner's manual.

All I can say is: Easier said than done!!

I wanted to replace the springs in the mags for my G-21. So, I went up north for the weekend. Spent the first night taking them apart. Once I got the first one the rest were easy. Got them all done Friday night which meant I could shoot all day Saturday.

Take the handi-dandy little tool which has to fit into the small hole with room left over. Push down and at the same time slightly slide the baseplate forward. Once every thing starts moving it becomes a simple operation.

If it does not work on the first one just tap it against your palm and tap it against the table and let it rest for a few minutes and try one of the other ones.

It is not easy at first.

A C-clamp and a butter knife. Go ahead and laugh, it works.

Hey Goldwing, I think you should learn how to do the disassembly and reassembly as it is part of what Glock says is required maintenance. I have a model 30 and have replaced all the baseplates with Pierce baseplates for touchy feely!!!!! You'll get the hang of it and keep you skin. :fa:

Take a small screwdriver, and push the button in far enough that the scewdriver stays in the hole, then put the magplate up against the end of a table, and push.. as soon as it starts to move, remove screwdriver, and continue....

Use the method from the link I posted above. That's the Glock approved/recommended method.

What a coincidence. I get up to take a break from the monitor and walk around. There on the counter are 3 Glock mags and the new springs and they have been sitting there since the beginning of the year. And, the next msg I open is.....???

I hope that Goldwing was able to figure it out, especially since he has picked up a new Glock.
