I'm not sure what we have here (Jpg.s to be added)

History as I know it:

It's a 12 gage.

It belongs to the son of a decease police officer.

The sons brother tried to remove a copper colored coating on the barrels.

There is a missing peice (see photo)

It is inscribed: J.N Scotts on the stock

On the barrel it says: J.M. Scotts Laminated Steel.

Firing mechanism still operational.

Does anyone know anything about this old shot gun?

Sorry, I can't find a reference to J (M or N) Scotts in either Numrich or the Standard Catalogue of Firearms.

I think there's a Michigan Antique Arms show in Novi next month. You may want to take it there to get it ID'd if no one else has the answer.

laminated steel sounds like an old one that used black powder cartridges.
Do not shoot.

The brown was the original finish. To bad

I am having a brain fart and can't remember what those barrels are called. got it

Damascus, they are basically a pipe with wire wrapped and forged around them for more strength

is it a single, double?
