Just got my Ruger 22 Hornet back fron CPC Precision Friday, mounted up a Leopuld 6X (proof scope) and got to my range yesterday. I'm here to tell you all this may be some of the best 'under $200' improvements I have ever made!
CPC (http://www.ct-precision.com) did the "Ruger 22 Hornet to K-Hornet Combo for under $180 and shipping cost me around $25 more. They crowned the muzzle, set the barrel back and hand-reamed the chamber to min. K-Hornet size, did a trigger improvement and did their "bolt halves tightening" work which stiffens and aligns the bolt face. Took about 4 weeks from my door to my door.
Now I shoot factory 22 Hornet ammo, getting great accuracy while fire-forming 45gr. Remington & 46gr. Winchester to K-Hornet. I have a set of Redding K-Hornet dies on order, so wil l try my hand at the new-to-me caliber.
The net result is in yesterday's light breeze, I never got a group larger than 1.5 inches at 100 yards - not one! And every group at the 50-yard mark cloverleafs!
I am very happy and the woodchucks & opossums around here should be scared to death! The trigger is crispy with O/T stop, and now the gun begs for a light variable scope. Just the ticket when the noise/cost of a 223 or 22-250 isn't wanted.
So far I highly recommend the work they do to anyone wanting a super-accurate 22/77 or variant without risking a hack-job.
More to come when the furry munchers start stacking up!
