The following resolution was duly adopted by the Board of Directors on March 31, 2010:
"WHEREAS the 2nd Amendment to the United States Constitution states: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed; and
WHEREAS the State of Michigan Constitution Article I Section 6 states: "Every person has a right to keep and bear arms for the defense of himself and the state."; and
WHEREAS many groups seek to override this basic, fundamental, God given right,
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that Michigan Gun Owners urge all owners of firearms to rally at the east lawn of the Capitol Building in Lansing, Michigan on April 13, 2010 from Noon-3:00 PM to show our willingness to defend this fundamental right guaranteed by both the State and Federal Constitutions.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Michigan Gun Owners organization display their banner and urge the membership to visibly show their support especially as their President addresses the crowd with other scheduled speakers, making it clear that this fundamental right is NOT to be infringed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that petitions be available urging the legislators to recognize this right and immediately repeal all Criminal Empowerment Zones and handgun registration laws in Michigan."
