I would say 6-18 is more than enuff. depends what ur shootin at. I can shoot 500 yds with a 3-9. guess it just depends what u like.

ro2 is very correct. The magnification really depend on what you like. Do you like to see your heart beat in the scope jumping around? Then the 32x max power would be right up your alley. Personally I would never get a scope over 25x as I don't see the need in it. You can do any shooting you want with a fixed power 10x. Whether it be from 100yds all the way out to 1000yds. Things to look at is light transmission through the scope. S&B scopes you would probably be able to hunt at night without a problem without any artificial light. A tasco, not so much. Remember you get what you pay for as well. If like you stated above, your only looking to shoot 200yds then I really don't see a reason for more than 14-15x magnification. Unless your planning on getting serious about competitions and then you will be spending 3k+ for a good optic. For a decent optic, with a good price, check out Wonder Optics.
