I put a 3 shot mag extension on my remington 1100 12ga for 3gun @ LGC, but I still can't get it to load all 7 shots in the tube.

any advice? first match is next weekend...

does the mag on the 1100 have the dimples on the tube below (under) the barrel nut?

if so, those dimples need to be removed..

did you have any mag tube dimples that needed to be removed?

what length shells are you using 2.75 or 3inch

or are you using a chote type follower that needs to be trimmed down

2-3/4" shells...

no dimples, I've been able to get 5 in but 6 & 7 won't go. I'm afraid to cut the spring for the sake of saving any possible cycling issues.

My best guess is the orginal factory follower, it was my dad's old gun before he got a benelli.

I honestly have not looked at the follower. :tsk:(to myself)

Replace the factory follower with an aftermarket one designed for such applications.

You may want to change the bolt handle too.

You don't suppose he means a plug do you?

Maybe my hi viz follower is a Choate...it was a heavy duty orange one. It has been awhile since I had my 1100 in that configuration but....with a longer mag extension, I never had a problem requiring trimming.

Yea, there is definately no plug, that I'm sure of.

Are you sure that you have the right spring for that length extension?

My Suggestion:
Remove the spring and try to load. This should help determine if the follower moves freely.

If you can not load the number expected then there is an issue with the follower.

If it loads ok, then the issue is most likely the spring. That may require cutting or order a new shorter spring.

Cut 3 rings off the spring last night and was immediately able to load all 7 rounds with ease and they all cycled through w/o a problem...

issue solved, thanks for the help
