I have had a Winchester e vault safe for three years with no problems. until about a month ago, when plugged into the ac adapter the middle button key wont work. when i unplug it it works fine on batteries. then last night wife went to use it and it wouldn't open. you could hear the latch open but the door stayed shut. if you press firmly on the door while entering the code it will open. i opened and shut it about ten times and it stuck about four of them. the battery indicator shows over half... anyone else have any problems with these safes?

Sounds like a weak power supply.

I have heard of that and with the gun vault e-locks as well. I am not fond of electronic safes, I like the old school vline push button.

Your problem is weak batteries. Replace em and the problem will go away.

That's undesirable.

I have found with mine that rechargable NMH batteries last a whole year VS 6 months on the standard batteries.

As soon as the display shows one bar down on the batteries I recharge them.

I replaced the batteries but it didnt fix anything. The great customer service rep from windchester is sending me a new safe, and a call tag for the old one.

I have been thinking of getting one of these myself. I have read bad things about the Gun Vault system on Amazon's reviews. This is a quality product for the money??

One thing I've learned about online reviews is more people bitch about something than praise it... No matter what the item is.

Some people buy things, then start bitching about it right away, then they read the manual... and everything falls into place... I'm guilty of that.

I bought one of these units in the spring and it works flawlessly. I looked at several brands but liked the function of the eVault the best. I've drilled the family and they can open it and have gun in hand in seconds. No fumbling for keys or spinning of combos. I like that the most!

I have the Gun Vault DLX2000 that has alot of great features (ie...motion detector alarm, on and off key pad, double shelf...).that I got from either Amazon or Optics Planet for almost a year now with no problems. the only thing I didn't like was the light, it's soooo small when lit, maybe the size of a quarter. other than that, it works great!
