A friend wants to sell his Weatherby 270. It is in immaculate condition. Fired about 20 rounds out of it. Still in original box with papers. Here is the model:

Weatherby lightweight 270 Winchester 24in RH mark V. It has a front bi-pod and a Leupold VariXII 3-9x40 scope. It is gray with small white speckles in the paint.

I don't know anything about rifles and I want to help him out. I want to make sure I pay him a fair price for it.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know where it is made. I believe it is about 4 years old.

$275.00-$350.00 is a fair price.
Me being Mr. Lowball would only pay $150.00.

He's messing with you. The scope is probably worth close to $250. With scope and bipod, I'd guess circa $700 to $800. Keep in mind that the ammo will cost you your firstborn if you don't reload.

I think he misread the post. While somewhat expensive you can find 270 Win ammo pretty reasonable. Had it been an actual Weatherby cartridge then yes it would have cost you an arm and a leg and maybe a few other body parts.

I saw it on CDNN without a scope of bi-pod or sling for $1299. I know he is trying to get about $1000 for it. It comes with 2 boxes of ammo.

My bad- didn't read carefully enough on caliber.

Per the Weatherby website and assuming it is a MarkV Ultralight, it carries a MSRP of $1909. May be a deal for circa $1000 to someone, but I'm guessing you'd sit on it for a LONG time attempting to sell it locally. YMMV
