I found an awsome new pastime for myself thanks to Alex & Roger.
Bowling Pin Shooting.

Here are my scores from the 2 times that I went.

11/02/03, Rank 12 of 24, 5 Pin Match, Total score 63.03, Table1 15.00sec,
Table2 15.00sec, Table3 15.00sec, Table4 10.31sec, Table5 15.00sec, Table6 7.72sec, Best 7.72sec, Worst 15.00sec, Avg 12.61sec.

Not to shabby for my first time.

11/16/03, Rank 14 of 29, 5 Pin Match, Total Score 47.88, Table1 15.00sec,
Table2 6.52sec, Table3 9.29sec, Table4 15.00sec, Table5 7.91sec, Table6 9.16sec, Best 6.52, Worst 15.00sec, Avg 9.58sec.

So i'm in the middle of the pack so far, and I'm seeing improvement.
This is so cool i'll probably get rid of my bowling ball (that I havent used in 8years) because I dont think I can go back to knocking down pins the old fashioned way.
It's also fun to watch the more seasoned guys clear tables in under 4sec.
The people there are friendly and helpfull, and its a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon/evening. :pistols:

See you guys Nov 30th.

You are going to have to drop it below 40 seconds but you are getting there. I have done it twice with my Ruger SuperBlackhawk and plan on doing it regularly.

What to do this weekend. There is a gun show in Birch Run and there is the opportunity to spend some time at the range. Hhhmmm, maybe spend Friday evening at the range and go to Birch Run on Saturday and then the match on Sunday.

Below 40 secconds...well I'll have to work on that.
I dont really know all the stratagies people use yet, like which pin do you start at? Right to left or left to right, top or bottom and such.
In the league do you use only 8 rounds max? I thought I heard that.

We advise new shooters to try the bottom pins first, then the top, that way a bad shot or fall and roll of a top will not knock over a bottom pin leaving two pins on their sides to try and clear. The good shooters do it in a "U" pattern, usually left to right, top, three bottom. top. We also advise new shooters to shoot at one pin, DO NOT WATCH what happens to it, just move to each of the next four, then go back and pick up any they missed. I have seen too many people empty a 10 round clip on the first pin.
The "8 rounds max." rule was dropped years ago. It was too hard to verify, and we figured your time was already headed to the dumpster if you needed more than five to seven shots. Therefore, if you can find an endless belt fed handgun you are welcome to use it. :-) :-)

Where is exactly this indoor place to shoot pins. I am very intrested in participating. Also, what is the cost, above that of ammo.

I think Dec. 28th is the last open shoot before the league starts.

Here is a link, also there is one at the bottom. They are all cross indexed.

They send out emails to the members to keep us aware of matches.

There are a few open shoots remaining

League does not start until Feb 22nd. And, even then interested handgunners can still stop by and shoot pins.

The next match is coming up this next weekend, the Sunday between Christmas and New Years. The same weekend as the gun shows at Gibralter North and the Silverdome.
