I couldn't believe how many people showed up to the ACTS match this morning. There was around 45 shooters, 4 stages, freezing rain, and 40mph gusts of wind the whole day. It was great!

Steve can go sit on a stick and rotate for stage 1.

That is all.

And it was cold.

Great time despite getting rained on and blown over, laying prone on soaked ground was a plus too. Found some bad Bulgarian mags in my stash on stage 4, committed the PORN STAR malf clearance maneuver.

I didn't get to see you run Stage 1.

But I will say to everyone who watches the videos, the video of Joe shooting stage 2, was (I believe) his first opportunity to shoot all day. I had already shot two stages before that, and he totally smoked me, without having shot his rifle at all yet. Good stuff.

Yeah I think stage 2 was my first for the day...

Stage 1 wasn't too bad, actually. Turns out my rifle has a VERY nice zero on it. Wasn't sure since I had to zero it on a 25 yard range, but it sure as hell was shooting good for me at those mini poppers.

Interesting day. Fighting the weather was interesting and thanks to all who toughed it out through the day.

Also big thanks to the new shooters who came to the mini clinic this morning. It was basic, but I hope it at least gave some info into ACTS specific rules. This is two years in a row where set up didn't allow us to do a walk through beforehand, for that I apologize.

They are working on scores, I think they should be up soon.

Aren't you supposed to be in Hollywood or buying turtles or something instead of making fun of our shooting? :)

Official scores aren't up but if there are rough numbers in the recap thread.

Good shooting from some of the new folks..and everyone with irons. I was happy to see people came out despite the weather and stuck it out..excellent work.

Thanks for the link Barbara.

I'm really pleased with my performance. 9th out of 43 guys my first time out is good with me. Leaves plenty of room for improvement.

I see there was a DQ. Anyone mind sharing what the reason for it was?

AD. 1911 pistol. He was finished with the last pistol torso plate on Stage1 and about to reengage with rifle. Into the ground in front of his right foot.

If I had too much fun it's my own fault! Looking forward to the next hurricane shoot. Dan

Without trying to single anyone out, everyone can learn from stuff like this.

The shooter was not familiar with how his 1911 functioned, and when instructed to put the safety on before going back to the holster, tried to let the hammer down on a live round. The hammer slipped from his thumb and launched a round into the dirt. The gun was pointed in a safe direction but an ND is an ND.

Shooting competitions is like riding a motorcycle. There are those who have been DQ'd and those who will be DQ'd.

However, I would encourage everyone to have a functioning knowledge of the firearms they are using before going to an action event like this. We welcome all shooters, but you will enjoy yourself more and be safer if you know your guns well. As always, if something doesn't feel right or you have a question during or after a stage, ASK for help.

Thanks to all the new shooters who came out, I hope you guys enjoy our brand of fun. Hope to see you again at the next one and at the CRC in July.

Personally, I always like my kids to do better than me  Gives me reason to be proud of them, especially on Mom's Day (which is today)

Congrats Joey

First time running ACTS and I had a blast. I was one of the few running an unzero´d weapon and it showed in my times. I will be there in June and hopefully at CRC also!

Tom, can you tell me why I was assessed a 26sec penalty on Stage 3, did I smoke a hostage or something?

Points for stages 3 and 4 were all added to the stage 3 times. They are probably a mix of hostage hits, perhaps a miss, or just standard target points.

If Stages 3 and 4 were added together for the total time on Stage 3 then someone screwed up their math for my adjusted total on three. It´s not terribly important, I am just curious if I had done something I was not supposed to.

PM me your name, I'll take a peak at it.

Penalties weren't supposed to be combined but maybe they were. I just record what's on the sheet.

Without knowing your name, I'm guessing but it was probably something like one miss (10 points), a hostage (15 points) and a target point. Or two misses and 6 target points. If you send Tom or me your info, I'll be able to tell you exactly what's on your sheet.

Hi Barb,
Thanks for the follow-up; I sent a message to Tom and we´ll see what his response is. Being new to ACTS I am more curious than anything.

Several AR15 shooters had dual mag clamps from "dream products" at the match. Looked like milled aluminum. Tried searching but no luck. Anybody got a link.

Also need a good quality clamp for AK74 type mags.

I wasn't using them, but here's a link.

It was nice meeting MGO members out in person. Postban, nice shooting and nice malf work. I know you AK guys don't usually practice that stuff :). Your son smoked most of the other newbs, great job to him. KD8JUV, nice to meet you neighbor. Get that rifle sighted in and the coins/mini poppers at 75-100yds won't know what hit em. Joeywhat, nice work! Tom, thanks for bailing me out and lending me some quality Raven gear and RO'ing. Next time, that equipment will get dirty and look like it's being run. Barbara, thanks for the score keeping.
