need to swap a barrel on my flattop. whats needed besides an action vise block and barrel nut wrench.

heard somewhere that the barrel extension on the barrel goes into the right depth so headspace gauges arent necessary...

any thoughts on this?

thanks

david

Headspace always needs to be checked, even though it's usually not a problem on ARs.
If any of the machining is out of tolerance, you will have a headspace problem. Get it checked.

I have not built a AR for 15 years or so,but I used a torque wrench also.
The go, no go gauges were pretty cheap to make sure the headspace is ok. I think I got mine from Bushmaster before they were Bushmaster.
