I had a question about Ohio gun laws. I was sure were to post it. Sorry if this is the wrong place.

I live here in Michigan. I am taking a trip over the weekend down to Ohio. The question I have is, we will be going to allot of garage sales and estate sales. What are the laws for buying gun in Ohio. I am talking rifles and shotguns. Not really looking for any pistols down there. Is there any thign I need to do to buy a rifle or shotgun down there then bring it up here.

There is. See this, then go see how they can sell guns in Ohio and follow that law.

Here is the relevant page:

You can buy a rifle there from an individual. No FFL needed as far as I can tell.

Why would you say that?

It's the federal law.

Could you give me a link to it please?
As it applys to long guns in contiguous states.
I am about to learn something I never knew.

only 3 things matter:

-gotta be semi-auto unless registered full auto
-gotta have barrel 16" or longer
-gotta be registered in MI as pistol is the folded overall length is under 30"

eeeh it's probably because the overall length is under 30 and needs to be registered as a pistol. But Purchase permit would accomplish the same thing if you dont have a CPL
