She baited her own hook but threw a fit when I made her hold it for the picture!

And you should be proud! Any 8 year old girl that can:

Bait hook

Cast

set hook

fight that monster trout

and hold the fish is pretty sweet.

Congrats!

Pretty neat. Where did she pull that out of? You don't have to get specific.

Grandpa's fully stocked trout pond LOL! He has been stocking it with rainbows for the last 6 years. This was one of the oldest.

I know it's cheating but my kid had fun!

Fishing with the family is always great!

Some of our fondest and funniest memories come from some of our days at the lake. My wife has a great sense of humor and likes to clown around. One evening we were fishing with the kids. I noticed something unusual about her bait when she was reeling in her line for another cast. I asked her what she was using, she told me she was trying Gummy Worms. She said maybe the fish were looking for a treat since they weren't taking the regular old worms.

A couple weeks ago, my wife and I rented a cabin in the Hocking Hills area of Ohio, which is close to where my oldest daughter (33 years old) and her family live. We had an opportunity to spend a couple days with her and her family. We went fishing on one of the days we were together and my daughter said that fishing with me when she was a kid was some of her favorite memories.

BTW, the wife never caught anything with the Gummy Worms but it did add another moment to our memory file.

Good for you Shyster and your daughter!

I am really hopeful that she has caught the fishing bug. Riverview is hosting a fishing derby in a couple of weeks for the kids and she is already bugging me to go
