I moved to Romulus this winter and I am looking for a range to shoot rifle/pistol at. I for rifle I would prefer the option of something 300+ yards but I will take what I can get.

Family Shooters Corral in Eaton Rapids is the only 300 yd range
that I know of. Its a real fun place to shot at just a bit of a drive.

+1 on Washtenaw. They have 300/600 practice on Wednesdays and it's open to the public. Here's the web page:

Take I-94 to U.S 12 West (toward Saline). After you get off the e-way onto US12, take the first left and follow it back around to the club. Maybe a mile.

I saw that, I can understand that they would want to keep out unscrupulous people, but how does one go about becoming a invited guest or have someone sponsor them? I was in the military, I use to be a sheriffs deputy, I'm a NRA member, and I currently have a small business making tools for gunsmiths so I think I would be a good candidate. :help:

TGM: WSC´s Membership page (http://www.washtenawsportsmansclub.org/about/membership.html) outlines the avenues available to become a member. Looks like befriending a current member at one of their public events is the route to go.

I've heard that they were getting too many wannabe "snipers" who weren't familiar with their comeups. It used to be strictly Highpower Rifle shooters who knew their ballistic tables.

I know it doesn't have a rifle range but it is actually in Romulus so I figured you might want to know about it.

I've been to every practice held so far this year (every wednesday since the beginning of April) and saw no such activity, just highpower shooters practicing 600 yard prone. It did seem that non-members outnumbered members sometimes, however. Still it has never been what anyone would consider "crowded" by any stretch of the imagination. I don't know what prompted the recent change, but I intend to find out.

Garandpa, did you ever find out why they changed the rules? Either way I am interested in becoming a member.

They had a serious safety incident a year ago that cost them significant money. They do have memberships open (70 of them I'm told). You will need to be sponsored by a current member, fill out their form, and then wait until September when they have their annual membership installation meeting. In the mean time, try to participate in as many club events as possible. Go to their website for more details and the event schedule:
